  • Glen Garioch

    Three Wood Scotch

One of the oldest operating distilleries in Scotland – and its most easterly – Glen Garioch (pronounced Geery in the ancient Doric dialect still spoken in these parts) has been making its mighty malt in the quaint and historic market town of Oldmeldrum, near Aberdeen in North East Scotland, ever since 1797. Shielded from the world’s prying eyes, deep in the fertile ‘Granary of Aberdeenshire’, and only ever produced in small, precious batches, Glen Garioch is a rare find indeed, but warmly appreciated by those who like a hearty Highland malt, non chill-filtered as nature intended, with a wholesome maltiness, honeyed sweetness and delicious creamy texture to savour.

    Weather Beaten But Naturally Beautiful

Aged for a decade in first-fill bourbon casks, with only our No. 1 Vaults' wall to protect it from the crashing waves beyond, Bowmore Tempest encapsulates all the rugged, stormy sea qualities associated with our weather-beaten distillery. As complex as they come, this golden-coloured treasure still retains Bowmore's differentiating quality - perfect balance. Bowmore Tempest is released in small batches.

So far we have released three batches of the Tempest Batch numbers 1, 2 and 3.

  • Bowmore Darkest

    Whisky Scotch Malt

Matured in an inspired combination of both bourbon and sherry casks, it's the final three years spent in Oloroso sherry casks that gives Bowmore 15 Years Old 'Darkest', one of the most beautifully balanced Bowmores, the rich, deep colour reflected in its name, and its warming finish.

  • The Glenlivet

    Whisky Scotch Malt

Alan Winchester has been appointed as the new Master Distiller for The Glenlivet succeeding Jim Cryle who has now retired. As Master Distiller, Alan's role is to be the ultimate guarantor of The Glenlivet now and for the future. He describes his appointment as 'a huge honour - my main job will be to maintain the tradition started by George Smith. His tradition is one of the highest quality that the industry looks to as a reference point'. Alan will have a personal hand in selecting batches of whisky for limited extra maturation, carrying his signature on the cellar collection bottles.

Distilling is a way of life in North-east Scotland, but not everyone has the passion for the craft that Alan Winchester brings to his career. Throughout his profession, he has worked his way up the line. He mastered a succession of skills as mashman, brewer and stillman among other jobs until he reached his present position, Master Distiller of The Glenlivet, bringing his enthusiasm and commitment to every level. With his vast experience of distilling, Alan remains a highly regarded distiller among his peers.

  • Glendronach

    Single Malt Scotch Whisky

From its hillside home in the Scottish Highlands, The GlenDronach Distillery has been creating the finest richly sherried single malts for nearly 200 years.

In 1826 the exuberant and extroverted James Allardice founded the distillery and produced his 'Guid GlenDronach' single malt. Down the years, the distillery he created has thrived under the stewardship of far-sighted investors like Walter Scott in 1847 and Captain Charles Grant in 1920. In more recent times, GlenDronach was bought in 1960 by William Teacher & Sons.

But in 2008, nothing less than a complete renaissance began. The BenRiach Distillery Company became GlenDronach's proud new owner.

While time can never stand still, the commitment of the team at GlenDronach will ensure that the distinctive practices that have always defined the distillery will live on - the most influential of these, its return to independent ownership.

  • Ardmore

    Whisky Scotch Malt

Founded in 1898 by one of Scotland’s most famous whisky families, we continue to have an unshakable belief in our traditional distilling methods.

We insist that all Ardmore expressions use the aromatic smoke from natural, highland peat fires to dry our barley. We are now the only Highland distillery that insists on fully peating our standard malt and we will never change.
The fermentation vessels we use are crafted from Oregon pine. It is true that they are more labour intensive but they impart a flavour that stainless steel vessels (now widely used) can never give.

Our traditional methods also extend to maturation. Traditional cask is double fermented first in the usual oak casks but then a second time in much smaller hand crafted “Quarter Casks” they were common a hundred years ago but have been largely ignored due to their high cost of construction. This intense secondary maturation gives the deeper smother flavour our whisky is renowned for.

Finally we bottle at the higher strength of 46% ABV (or higher). Ardmore is only barrier rather than mechanically “chill” filtered thus preserving all the natural flavours.

These traditional methods combined create a uniquely complex and rewarding Highland malt that continues to be awarded Gold medals year after year.
